This test is intended to ensure the watertightness of large glass surfaces that will be permanently closed, such as storefronts, curtainwalls, and sloped glazing systems. It is recommended to perform the test with the interior finishes removed to easily detect water infiltration and make necessary repairs before completion of the building. If the test area is enclosed by interior finishes, the contractor should expect extra costs for exposing the wall(s) and re-finishing them after testing is finished.
